Fandante Chamber Choir is a local amateur choir
from Hódmezővásárhely in the South of Hungary.

While most members (aged between 16 and 36) have attended music school
in the spirit of Kodály and have been singing in various school, city, college, and
other mixed and chamber choirs, none of us are professionals.

For us, singing is a constant source of joy and a medium that brings together people
from very different backgrounds and lifestyles.

In the past few years, we have built a balanced and diverse repertoire consisting of
Renaissance and other classical a capella music (secular as well as religious),
gospel songs and spirituals, and contemporary music by internationally acclaimed
Hungarian composers as well as by local composer Béla Steiner
(who has taught many of the members as a music teacher). We also
greatly enjoy venturing into the territory of jazzier tunes as well.

We are proud to be an active participant of the cultural life of our region.
We have performed regularly in and around our city on various occasions,
including a recent visit by President of the Hungarian Republic Ferenc Mádl in our town.

For the fifth time now, we have participated at the annual Tiszazug Music Festival
in Kunszentmárton, Hungary, as contributors to a chorus of 200 members representing
choirs and cities from and around Hungary accompanied by a symphonic orchestra,
performing Mozart Masses, classical pieces as well as contemporary compositions
by Hungarian composers such as, among others, Miklós Kocsár.

Working with music educator and conductor extraordinaire Gábor Baross
is not only joy in the musical sense - it is also tremendous inpsiration for all of us,
year after year.

In the summer of 2004, we participated at our first international choral competition,
the 2004 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales, UK.
We owe our thanks to our Welsh friends and partner choir,
the Penrhyn Male Voice Choir of Bethesda for their wonderful hospitality.

Music is a meeting ground; it is a special pleasure for us that over the years
we have created musical partnerships with choirs in and outside Hungary.
We are proud of our achievements: as we speak, local composers are
working on pieces dedicated to our choir.

In October 2003, we made our first demo recording and
we are currently preparing for the recording of our first CD.
